Ian Wace

Co-Founder
Marshall Wace Asset Management

Ian Wace is chief executive officer of Marshall Wace LLP, a London-based partnership focusing on alternative investments. He has overseen the growth and development of Marshall Wace since its inception in 1997. The partnership employs over 140 personnel and operates from offices in London; Greenwich, Connecticut; and Hong Kong.

Mr. Wace remains the manager of the Eureka (Euro) Fund, the flagship product launched in 1998, which he co-managed with Paul Marshall, the partnership's chairman, until 2004. Under Mr. Wace's stewardship, the firm pioneered the development of the alpha capture system (known as TOPS), with assets actively deployed in Europe, Asia, and the US.

Mr. Wace was formerly global head of equity and derivative trading at Deutsche Morgan Grenfell (DMG), where he was responsible for equity sales trading, program trading, proprietary trading, stock lending, and balance sheet management. Prior to joining DMG in 1995, he worked for 11 years at SG Warburg, where in 1998, as Warburg's youngest director ever, he was appointed head of European equity sales and, in 1993, head of proprietary trading.
